Peter John Dunkley.
17/12/1948 - 7/12/2009
In December 2009, our club President, Peter Dunkley passed away.
At the time, Peter was serving his fourth term as President of MATAMA and had just guided the club through a very difficult time.
He will be remembered for many reasons, especially his strength of character, quick wit and his devotion to his family, friends and hobbies.
He was popularly voted as MATAMA's Clubman of the Year for 2001 and because he was so well liked and respected, his passing rocked our club to its core.
Indicating just how highly he was regarded, club members formed a guard of honour at his funeral, with the procession being headed-up by his beloved Hanomag tractor.
Peter was passionate about preserving our national heritage and demonstrated this by collecting a quality array of historically important tractors and machinery.
In his absence, Peters wife Gwenette and other family members, have joined the club and taken on the huge task of maintaining and displaying his collection.
All MATAMA club members are saddened by Peter's passing.
He left a void that will be impossible to fill.
RIP
Shown below are some of the tractors from his collection.
Peters wife, Gwenette, continues to display them at local shows and charity events.
