Dave Hartwig: Engine collector, preserver, restorer........& all 'round great guy.
One of MATAMA's treasures is this gent, Dave Hartwig.
Nobody restores engines better than Dave and nobody is more passionate about the vintage engine movement and the people in it. Respectfully referred to as "Mr. Cooper", Dave is seen here with his rare 1912 4HP Hornsby. In the slide show below, you'll see other pics of this wonderful engine and many more. Some he has preserved and many that he has restored over the years. Many engines attributed to Dave's skills aren't pictured here and some of the engines that are pictured have been sold on to other proud owners, but Dave is responsible for all their new leases on life. Before he started on them, many of these engines were "basket cases".
MATAMA is proud to have Dave as a member.

More engines connected with MATAMA members....
Two more miniature engines that belong to MATAMA club members.
Left is a 1/8th HP air-cooled "Wombat", built entirely from scratch by Frank Little, it isn't a model of another engine, its simply a "Wombat".
On the right is an ignitor fired, 1/2 scale replica of a 1912 Waterloo "Big Chief", also built entirely from scratch. Both engines are 'Hit n Miss' and both have been built by men with severe disabilities. At a recent rally they ran constantly for 2 days straight without faultering.
Buzacott engine nearing restoration after being badly burnt in a fire. This engine is owned by a MATAMA club member.
