Like mice in a cheese factory.....
Ron Hartshorn's collection, Murrumbateman.
A fair sized contingent of our members had a very memorable day out (12JUL14) when they visited Ron Hartshorn's fantastic collection of vintage machinery and garagenalia at Murrumbateman.
Over the years Ron has collected all sorts of things that interest him, mainly large side shaft engines and he now has enough "stuff" to fill a few large, specially built, sheds and present it all as a museum. It is a diverse collection and includes petrol bowsers, enameled signs, trucks, cars, water carts, custom cars, tools, toys, etc, etc. Some of this "stuff" is restored and some of it un-restored, but none of it is un-interesting.
We all had a great day, which included a sausage sizzle lunch in the warm end of the main shed. It was a typically cold and wet winters day and we were very appreciative that the big pot belly heater was fully cranked up.
Well known vintage engine enthusiast, Brock Summerfield was there to help Ron start some of the bigger engines, a few of which definitely needed his assistance.
When it was time for us to leave, Steve Shields presented Ron with a bottle of plonk to say thank you for hosting our visit to his awesome collection. Another of our members, Bob McColl deserves thanks & praise too, for organising the whole thing. Well done Bob. It was a day many of us will never forget.

The photos below show our members, looking over his collection, completely awestruck.
